Ferdinandovy zahrady

A garden close to nature does not necessarily mean mess and chaos. The principles of sustainability can also be implemented in modern, design-clean gardens. The coming summer and the dry season also alarm the topic of rain gardens and rain beds. "In an age of technology overload and virtual reality, a garden is like walking the dog, a garden is an antidepressant," says presenter and garden architect Ferdinand Leffler, who this time invited the great life advocate of permaculture principles Jan Vaclavek to collaborate.

How do you create a private oasis in a disorganized urban development? This time, a small plot of land next to an unusual new pyramid-shaped building undergoes an incredible transformation. One expert had already cut his teeth on the garden project before the crew arrived. Will Ferdinand and Martina Imramovská be able to solve the issue of hedges around the house once and for all and create a "little room" for each member of the household in the garden?

"For me, garden architecture is very much a person. I like to listen to people as they live. And I try to spot what they're missing. Whether in the garden or in life. Sometimes they're looking for peace, balance, sometimes adventure. Whatever it is, the garden can be very helpful," says presenter and landscape architect Ferdinand Leffler. The Rest Garden episode is therefore also entirely dedicated to helping the children's respite hospice Klíček in the small Central Bohemian village of Malejovice. Together with the children and their loved ones, part of the large garden will be transformed.

The functionalist Villa Tugendhat in Brno is on the UNESCO list of Czech monuments. But do you know who is behind the reconstruction of the adjacent plot? The couple and garden architects Kamila and Přemysl Krejčiřík specialize in restoring gardens at historic buildings. They will guide us through the transformation of a private green kingdom hidden away in a secluded spot in the Orlické Mountains. Little and big princesses and their knights will appreciate the romantic atmosphere of centuries-old trees, rhododendron beds and newly planted perennial carpets. For inspiration, the presenter Ferdinand Leffler will also visit the nearby city of Prague, where a centuries-old Art Nouveau villa and contemporary art coexist in a pleasant harmonious union.
